AN EYE-CATCHING COMPACT TYPE OF DAWN REDWOOD, SOUL FIRE dazzles with its feathery foliage that changes throughout the seasons. In spring needles are lime green with orange tips; in summer they become a luminous chartreuse yellow/green. In fall the foliage transforms into bronze, red & golden colors. Wintertime the needles drop to reveal fissured bark and Soul Fire becomes a dramatic sculpture in the landscape. This amazing tree grows in full sun to part shade, maturing about 15 to 25 feet tall with a narrow profile. Once established Soul Fire is drought tolerant. Birches are graceful trees with shimmering leaves that provide a calm, restful sound in gentle breezes. Foliage is a dramatic golden vision in the fall; pure white shedding bark brightens the winter landscape. In spring tiny flowers peek out among emerging green leaves. Weeping White Birch provides good habitat for butterflies especially. The trees are very cold hardy and handle even poor soil, but a prefer sunny site.
