12 CHOICES:
$5 or 3 for $10 WATER HYACINTH-An aquatic herb absorbing many impurities, it floats without attaching to the water feature’s bed, providing shade for aquatic life. Water Hyacinth is antimicrobial, antifungal, and antibacterial, thriving in both shallow and very deep water. It makes terrific organic fertilizer! Harvest it in the fall and spread it over your garden beds where it will add nutrients by spring. Pontederia crassipes USDA Zones 8–11
$10 WATER CANNA-These dramatic sunset-colored flowers are a magnet for hummingbirds! Choose yellow/orange or red. The banana-tree style of leaf gives a tropical look to any yard. Blooms are on stalks about 3 to 4 feet high that can be planted in the ground, in bogs, or at the edges of ponds. In our climate (planted in soil here on the farm) they have been quite drought tolerant. Canna x generalis USDA Zones 7-11
$10 in 1 gallon pots, ($20 in larger 2 gallon & water pots in SeaSwirl boat)-PICKEREL RUSH-Blooming continuously early summer to first frost with soft violet/blue flowers, this pretty water plant has swirling, glossy heart-shaped leaves. The foliage provides shade, preventing excess algae growth & sheltering aquatic life. A native plant, it does well in full sun to part shade. Known for its hardiness and ease of care, it reemerges early every spring. It can be totally submerged in a pond, just partially submerged in water features, tubs & containers or planted in soil at water’s edge. We have found Pickerel Rush to be our most reliable pond plant. Pontederia Cordata USDA Zones 3-9
$10 or 3 for $20 RED DOCK (Also known as Wood Dock)-The young eye-catching leaves are edible – picture them added to make a colorful summer salad. They also can be cooked like spinach, added to stews and soups, or brewed into tea. Growing up to 14 inches tall in shallow water or damp soil, the leaves begin green before developing their distinguishing coloration and rusted red flowers. Rumex sanguineus USDA Zones 5–8
$30 COLORADO PEACH HARDY WATER LILY-Fragrant soft orange and peach colored flowers bloom from early spring through to fall. They provide superb habitat for all aquatic life. Mature, these lilies grow in water 6 to 24 inches deep. They return every year to fill your water feature or pond with beautiful flowers. Nymphaea Colorado USDA Zones 3–11
$10 or 3 for $20 CREEPING JENNY-Resembling a delicate necklace, the leaves drape over the sides of ponds or rims of water features and containers with small yellow flowers in summer. Plant in water under 1 inch deep-it is an ideal companion plant for water features and potted plants. A wonderful edging plant for water gardens, it also grows in ordinary soil and makes a great spreading groundcover. Lysimachia nummularia USDA Zones 4-8
$10 HORSETAIL RUSH-This native looks tropical, quickly providing a natural screen 2 to 3 feet tall. It withstands freezing temperatures, staying evergreen when planted in the ground, at pond’s edge, or in water up to 10 inches deep. If you want to keep it in a clearly defined space, plant it in a container. Equisetum Hyemale USDA Zones 4-9
$10 CANNA TROPICANNA-Vibrant tropical leaves with chocolate, red and green narrow streaks blend on large shapely leaves. July to October it has a continuous display of orange flowers on 3 to 4 foot tall foliage, and these attract hummingbirds. It grows in shallow water, in the ground, or is stunning in containers on a patio or deck. Canna ‘TropIcanna’ USDA Zones 7-11

Corkscrew Rush is flexible and adaptable. It will weave around any rock-scape or driftwood and is an artistic addition to any water feature. Juncus Effusus ‘Spiralis’ USDA Zones 3-9
$10 HARDY PURPLE WATER CANNA – Large blue green leaves with graceful stems are topped with unique purple flower clusters in summer. This canna adds different texture and bloom color to any area with most soil, or a pond with 12 inches or less of water covering the plant. Purple Canna plants grow about 5 feet tall. Thalia Dealbata USDA Zones 5-11
$10 SWAMP HIBISCUS-Extra-large flowers are pink with crimson centers. These provide nectar for hummingbirds and butterflies. Plants mature 3 to 6 feet tall and bloom from July to September. They grow in water up to 12 inches deep or in soil that is kept moderately moist. A large mature plant can thrive in even deeper water and is able to produce up to 20 flowers per day. Hibiscus moscheutos USDA Zones 5-8 (In small pots-limited availability)
$10 BLUE RUSH is native to Oregon and one of the few evergreen pond plants. The bluish-green color of these slender hollow stems is quite distinctive, admired the year around. Small gold flower clusters bloom along the stems before maturing with seeds and reddish fruits that sustain local songbirds, making it excellent for habitat gardens. Blue Rush is tough - excellent for erosion control, tolerating seasonal drought, maturing 1–2 feet tall at pond edges or in water up to 3 inches deep. Juncus Patens USDA Zones 4-9 (In small pots – Limited availability)
