Greengage is “one of the tastiest fruits in the world” when ripe, say fruit experts. This plum has a sweet honey-like taste when eaten fresh. It is versatile, freezing well and making excellent preserves, juice, and desserts. The tree is low-maintenance and compact, recommended for city gardens. Depending on location and weather, Greengage Plums ripen from August to October. Greengage Plum is self-fertile. Prunus domestica ‘Greengage’ USDA Zones 5 - 9
Italian Prune tastes great freshly picked, with a mild, yet snappy flavor that has a slight citrus tang. The firm flesh makes it outstanding to can, freeze, or to dry for healthy snacks. The fruit also stores extremely well. The cold-hardy tree blooms late so it can avoid spring frosts. Italian Plum is everbearing, which means the fruit ripens continually throughout August to Autumn. Italian Plum/Prune is self-fertile. Prunus domestica ‘Italian prune’ USDA Zones 4 – 9
