$20 PERSIMMON (American) - this is the ONLY variety we now have and they are small, about 1 feet tall, planted in 1 gallon pots (Photo taken Summer 2025)
‘A taste like a ripe peach sprinkled with cinnamon and cloves, wrapped in caramel’ – this is how Gardener’s Path describes the taste of a ripe, soft, aromatic American Persimmon. The fruit ripens September onwards, growing sweet after first frost. Not affected by freezes, persimmons can stay on the tree in winter. They must be fully ripe before being delicious for fresh eating. People tell us they are absolutely the sweetest, best tasting variety of persimmon! Plant 2 or 3 for cross-pollination. American Persimmons may get up to 35 feet tall; they can be trimmed to 14-17 feet for easier picking of fruit. The trees grow well in sun or shade, wet or dry conditions, even in clay soil. Diospyros virginiana “American’ USDA Zones 5-9
