$20 PETITE NEGRA FIG "Little Black Fig is an easy-to-grow petite tree indoors, on a patio, deck, or balcony. In containers it stays 2 to 3 feet tall. The self-fertile tree usually matures around 4 to 6 feet if planted in the ground. The fig’s skin is black, the scrumptious fruit inside is deep red, juicy and sweet with a hint of raspberry/berry flavors. L.S.U. PURPLE FIGS are very sweet and juicy with a mild caramel-like flavor. LSU Fig trees thrive in the Pacific Northwest and bear prolific crops when mature. They are self-fertile, low maintenance, and stay about 8 to 10 feet tall. The skin of this fig is deep brownish/purple and the interior of the fruit is light red. These seedless figs ripen August to October. Enjoy them freshly picked, or sliced into yogurt, ice cream, or fruit salad. They have an even richer flavor and become sweeter when dried, making a healthy winter-time snack. $45 Planted in 5 gallon pots. Ficus carica ‘LSU Purple’ USDA Zones 7-10
BROWN TURKEY FIG has a subtle and mild sweet flavor, deep purple skin, and a rich pink interior. It is enjoyed fresh, dried, in salads, or for jams and preserves. A local favorite, its harvest time is late summer through fall. The low-maintenance tree grows in about any type of soil. It does well in containers if protected over hard winters. Self-fertile, it matures 10-20 feet tall (less in a container) depending on location and conditions. $35 Planted in 2 gallon pots. Ficus carica “Brown Turkey’ USDA Zones 7-10
DESERT KING FIG trees are especially suited to the Pacific Northwest because they hold up well in the rain and the wind. It is one of the earliest figs to ripen in mid-summer. It is fast growing and self-fertile, maturing about 10-12 feet tall in full sun to part shade. Desert King Fig has large, juicy sweet fruit, green skin with a purple blush. Bite into its “strawberry red” flesh for a burst of superb flavor. $35 planted in 2 gallon pots. Ficus carica ‘Desert King’ USDA Zones 7-9
HARDY CHICAGO FIG We have this variety specifically for colder parts of Oregon, Idaho, and Washington. This exceptional fig variety is reliable - cold, heat, and drought tolerant. It bears prolific crops of figs that have excellent flavor. They are rich and sweet, said to have the flavor of a strawberry/blueberry combination. Chicago Hardy Fig has purplish-brown skin; it is rosy red inside and delicious eaten fresh or dried. The multi-branched and self-fertile tree matures about 10 to 15 feet tall. Harvests are consistent because the tree produces fruit on the new season’s growth (branches will regrow after cold winters.) ITALIAN HONEY FIG - Exceptionally sweet and named for its ‘honey-like flavor’ this thin-skin fig is delicious eaten freshly picked. Fruit ripens late July through early August. The tree grows about 4 to 6 feet tall in a container, 8 to 12 feet tall in the ground. Once established, it is drought tolerant and will produce fruit even in areas with short growing seasons. $20 Special (Reg. $25) planted in 1 gallon pots.
