RED GRAPE VARIETIES:
FLAME is a deep red grape, rich in antioxidants and believed to have many health benefits including muscle recovery. They are sweet/tart - good in fruit salads and desserts, also dried for raisins. They have a long shelf life and keep well in storage. They love dry summer heat and need all day sun to produce a plentiful crop. We suggest planting them on a south facing wall. Vitis vinifera 'Flame' USDA Zones 7-10
RELIANCE grapes are firm but juicy & very sweet, said to "taste like a Jolly Rancher." They are excellent fresh or used for juice, jam, or jelly. Reliance blooms late so it avoids unwelcome spring frosts, ideal for our climate. Vitis labrusca 'Reliance' USDA Zones 4 - 8
SUFFOLK apologies, sold out.
GREEN GRAPE VARIETIES:
INTERLAKEN is usually the first grape to ripen in summer. It has a sweet yet tangy flavor, refreshing eaten when just picked and ideal for juice, wine, and raisins. It is a wise choice for areas with short growing seasons and is also the recommended variety for the Oregon Coast. Vitis labrusca 'Interlaken' USDA Zone 5 - 8
REMAILY produces such large crops that some people say they need to thin the plentiful clusters. It is an extra-large sweet grape that was released by Cornell University in 1980 to be more disease-resistant, more vigorous, and more productive than other types of green grapes. Vitis labrusca 'Remaily' USDA Zones 5 - 9
EMERALD grapes are large, sweet, and crunchy, best easten fresh. They are also good in jams and sauces. The grapes have a long shelf life and great storability. Plant them against a south facing wall to get the best harvest, as they soak up the summer sunshine. Vitis vinifera 'Emerald' USDA Zones 7 - 10
DEEP BLUE/BLACK:
GLENORA is one of the most popular fresh eating grapes. The intensely dark blue, almost black grapes have a unique flavor, described as 'sweetly spiced.' The smooth, thin skin makes Glenora grapes ideal for juice, wine, jelly, and raisins. Vitis vinifera 'Glenora' USDA Zones 5 - 9
BLUE GRAPES:
BLUEBERRY GRAPE is one of Phil's special varieties - all propagated from the vine that has thrived here on the farm for over 15 years now. It is a variety of Concord, named for its faint blueberry, mild tangy fresh taste that has a burst of flavor. Blueberry grapes contain notable amounts of Calcium, Iron, Vitamin A, and Antioxidants. Vitis vinifera 'Blueberry' USDA Zones 6 - 9
CONCORD is the grape famous for being ideal to make jelly, jam, juice, or wine. This is because it has 'slip skin' - skin that easily slips off when the grape is squeezed. But also for its very sweet flavor. Concord is a cultivar of the 'Fox' variety which is a North American Native grape. Vitis labrusca 'Concord Seedless' USDA Zones 5 - 9
GOLDEN/LIGHT GREEN:
LAKEMONT grapes are similar to the famous Thompson variety, but a little sweeter, with a flavor described as 'honey-like.' Good for snacking fruit salads, wine, or raisins. The productive vines bear heavy crops of the largest and tightest clusters of any seedless grape. Vitis labrusca 'Lakemont' USDA Zones 5 - 9
BLACK VARIETY:
MONUKKA grapes are deep purple/black with thin tender skin, so we savor them in smoothies and juices. They are also recommended for making dessert wines as they are sweet and juicy. Rich in antioxidants, they are reputed to have many medicinal benefits. Vitis vinifera 'Monukka' USDA Zones 6 - 10
